Ayurdhama’s practitioner, Dr. Roopa P Konanur treats her patients by following Ayurvedic techniques that includes:
– Dietary changes
– Herbal medicine
– Massage
– Yoga
– Meditation
– Pranayama (Breathing exercises)
– Panchakarma (‘five actions’) – a specialised treatment consisting of five therapies including emesis (vomiting) and enemas , which are meant to detoxify the body and balance the doshas (in Ayurveda, the body’s three vital energies)
Dr. Konanur diagnoses patients using Nadi (Pulse), Mootra (Urine), Mala (Stool), Jinvha (Tongue), Shabda (Speech), Sparsha (Touch), Druk (Vision), Aakruti (Appearance). She strongly believes that individual possesses a unique combination of doshas (i.e. Vata, Pitta and Kapha) that define a individual’s temperament and characteristics. Each individual has a natural state, or natural combination of these three elements, and should seek balance by modulating their behaviour or environment. In this way they can increase or decrease the doshas they lack or in abundance respectively.
